Week 7 of New Com Tech (Tutorial)

For this week's tut spark, we get to....drum roll please!!!! ANSWER MORE QUESTIONS!!! YAY!

1. What is creative commons and how could this licensing framework be relevant to your own experience at university?

Creative Commons is an international business that provides free licenses and tools that allows copyright users to openly share their material with others who can share, reuse and remix the users material, legally. Creative Commons licensing framework would be relevant to university students as this type of licensing can allow students to choose particular options that do with their own personal work. I believe this is positive thing and it would influence more people to join.

2. Find 3 examples of works created by creative commons and embed them in your blog.

The first example of work created by someone who has a license with creative commons is Laura Burlton with her photo, Blackboard Buys Angel.

The second example I found was project posted on Wikimedia Commons. This project is fully licensed under Creative Commons rules.

The last example I found was a photo of a sculpture by Hoger Doelle.

3. Find an academic article which discusses creative commons using a database or online journal. Provide a link to and a summary of the article.

In summary of this article, it talks about how music industry is beginning to struggle with the effects of the Internet sales and downloads, even with the use of copyrights. In the article, it examines Creative Commons movement and how it would be more beneficially for musicians everywhere.

4. Have a look at Portable Apps (a pc based application) – provide a brief description of what it is and how you think this is useful.

One of the portable apps that is well known is the Sudoku portable game. This game is is logically game with placing numbers on a 9x9 grid. The objective is to completely fill in the grid with numbers 1 - 9 without repeating any in each column or row. I believe that this game is useful as it gets the brain working and you have to think outside the box. =)
